What is your favorite tea? 😀 There is something so lovely and grounding when working with these healing plants in the cold months of January. I have been developing a few new tea/tisane blends these days 🌿🌸🥰🌱🍃

Soft Lights Tea — soothing and smooth lemon balm, tulsi, milky oats, marshmallow leaf, raspberry and strawberry leaf, hyssop and orange rind
Crimson Nourish Tea — bright berries with hibiscus, elderberries, lemon balm, orange rind & nettle
Clear Skies Tea — minty-calm reset, spearmint, peppermint, chamomile, nettle, skullcap

A fresh new year is beginning. As coughs, colds and flu circle in our friend groups and households, syrups are one of the gentlest and wonderful ways to care for one another. Whether it is making it for your friends or family, syrups are the kind of remedy that has been passed from kitchen to kitchen, made slowly and taken by the spoon.

For generations, herbal syrups have been prepared through the winter as a wonderful way to support health. Herbs are gently simmered and combined with fresh honey, even strong or bitter plants soften into something comforting and easy to take. Farm fresh honey works its wonders to both help preserve the syrup as well as provide us with so many health benefits.

Many people think of syrups only for coughs and colds—using herbs like thyme, ginger or mullein—but syrups can also be made for everyday support. This batch was made with hawthorn, yarrow, and ginger, a traditional combination often used to support heart health and circulation, especially through the colder months.

Syrups can be taken straight from the spoon, stirred into warm tea, or taken daily in small amounts as part of a routine. They’re easy to use, gentle enough to share, and when made with care, they can last for the entire.

And making syrup helps in a wonderful way, it helps us slow down and enjoy the moment— gathering the ingredients, chopping, blending, letting the pot simmer, the room filling with a lovely scent and tending to a traditional warming remedy . It is the kind of medicine that feels like coming home. 🌿🍯

Here are my favorite ways to use freshly dried sage. 🍃🌿🌱. Freshly dried herbs are the best !

Sage Tea

Basic Brew
1–2 tsp dried sage + hot water
Add honey, lemon, or ginger if you like.

Why I love it:
Soothes sore throats • Supports digestion • Eases bloating/cramps

Throat Soother
Sage + ginger, steep 10 min, add honey.

Congestion Steam
Pour boiling water over a handful of sage and inhale the steam carefully.

Making some fresh contentment tea for a very special person .

Lavender buds – Lavender helps the body shift out of “fight or flight,” easing muscle tightness and mental overactivity. It helps people unwind in the evening and settle racing thoughts.

Rose petals – used for the “emotional heart.” It helps soften feelings of grief, irritability, and tightness in the chest, bringing a sense of comfort and emotional ease.

Milky oats – Milky oats are like food for a frazzled nervous system. They’re often used for long-term stress, burnout, and that “wired and tired” feeling.

And I’ll top it off with Tulsi (holy basil) – which helps the body adapt to stress.🩵🩵🩵

Happy Hollows Recipe for Lung Purifier Syrup — Black Cherry Slow Brew 💜

A soothing, moistening syrup for scratchy throats and tired lungs—perfect after smoke, dry air, or city grime. Mullein and marshmallow calm and coat; thyme and elderberries lends gentle immune support; linden and hibiscus keep things soft and easy to breathe.

Ingredients

4 Tbsp dried mullein leaf
4 Tbsp dried marshmallow root
2 Tbsp dried thyme
2 Tbsp dried hibiscus flowers
4 Tbsp dried linden flowers
3 Tbsp dried elderberries

2 cups water, a splash to 1 cup unsweetened black cherry juice (whatever suits you! I LOVE black cherry juice and its a great soother for sleep!), 1 cup raw honey

How to:

Long, low simmer : In a small pot add the water, black cherry juice, elderberries and thyme. Keep at a gentle simmer for about 1 hour, until reduced by almost half.

Steep the delicate herbs: Turn off heat. Stir in mullein, linden, and hibiscus. Cover and steep 20–30 min.

Strain well through a fine cloth (mullein can be fuzzy).

Add the raw honey at the end: When the tea is warm—not hot.

Bottle & chill. Label and refrigerate.

1–2 tsp up to 3–4× daily

We are planting our garlic this week! The Happy Hollows technique! 💚😀

Plant root side down , tip up
3 inches deep in a rich soil
We use a grate to help with spacing
This year we’re planting some Russian garlic that we picked up when we were in British Columbia earlier this year; can’t wait to try that !

Once they are planted, we nail down a chicken wire mesh to protect it from nibbling squirrels and other animals !

The garlic should sprout in 4 to 6 weeks and then it needs to freeze over and it will be ready to pick the skapes in the spring and the following fall .

Give it a try it’s easy! Even if you only use one bulb and plant them in a small circle. A fun activity to do this weekend !

I ran my first class for kids last week 📖📚They learned that plants are superheroes — each having many special powers to discover , looking at roots, leaves and flowers and learning through smell, touch, and sight. 🌿✨. What a fun afternoon bagging tea and learning ! 🩵🩵

A recipe! My warming, rich and ultra-healthy cranberry cinnamon infusion.

Ingredients:

1 cinnamon stick (preferably Ceylon cinnamon for a milder flavor)
2-3 star anise pods

1/2 cup dried or fresh cranberries
3-4 cups of water
3 tbsp Happy Hollows elderberry syrup (if you have it!)
3 tbsp pomegranate juice
Raw honey to taste

Instructions:

1. Boil the Water:
Bring 3-4 cups of water to a boil in a pot or kettle.

2. Add Dry Ingredients:
Add the cinnamon stick, star anise and cranberries to the boiling water.
Reduce the heat to a simmer.

3. Simmer and Add Pomegranate and elderberry syrup:
Simmer for 20-30 minutes, then add the pomegranate juice and elderberry syrup during the last 5 minutes.

4. Strain and Sweeten:
Let it cool slightly before stirring in raw honey (to preserve its beneficial enzymes).
Strain the infusion into a cups.

Soft, gentle, and deeply comforting — Althea officinalis’ « marshmallow root », is a gentle ally. Now is the time of the year that I dig out its fragrant roots for processing 🩵

Its name Althea comes from the Greek word “althainein,” meaning to heal — and that’s exactly what this silky root does. Traditionally used to calm irritation inside and out, it soothes dry skin, supports the respiratory tract, and comforts the digestive system.

La vitamine E est un ingrédient important dans plusieurs de mes produits. Elle est exceptionnellement nourrissante, protectrice & profondément hydratante.

Mais, toutes les vitamines E ne se valent pas. Dans les soins de la peau, il est courant que les fabricants réduisent les coûts là où ils le peuvent. Souvent en utilisant , par example, des mélanges de tocophérols — plusieurs formes de vitamine E souvent de qualité inférieure ou diluées.

La vitamine E de mon Sérum Visage Églantier & Calendula est un ingrédient essentiel. J’ai choisi d’utiliser une vitamine E ultra-pure (28 000 UI), un tocophérol unique, hautement concentré et d’une grande pureté.

But, not all Vitamin E is the same quality. In the skincare industry, manufacturers tend to cut costs where they can — and one of the ways that they do this is by using a lower quality vitamin E, often mixed tocopherols: which are several less potent forms of Vitamin E blended together, often low-quality or diluted.

Vitamin E in my Rosehip Calendula Face Serum is a very important ingredient. I’ve chosen to use ultra-pure Vitamin E (28,000 UI), a single tocopherol, highly concentrated and exceptionally clean.

Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea). So pretty, and such an interesting wild plant to talk about, it’s the plant that gave rise to digitalis, a family of heart medicines still used in hospitals worldwide (with careful dosing).

Foxglove gave medicine its classic cardiac glycosides — the “digitalis” family — lifesaving in precise doses, dangerous and toxic in the wrong hands.

All the way back in 1785, physician William Withering published careful case notes showing that a folk remedy containing foxglove could ease “dropsy” (fluid buildup from heart disease). That work helped turn a hedgerow plant into one of the first standardized, plant-derived heart medicines.
